Content	Project is “dialed in,” demonstrating little, or no, engagement with the assignment.	Project demonstrates a basic understanding of, and engagement, with the assignment.	Project demonstrates an imaginative interpretation of the assignment and a sophisticated application of theory (idea) to practice (description).
Language	Writing does not clearly convey student’s ideas. Fails to use basic vocabulary accurately.	Writing is clear, conveying ideas in comprehensible language. Uses basic vocabulary and art-historical terms accurately.	Writing is vivid and original. Uses a broad variety of art-historical terms and vocabulary to create descriptive and engaging comments.
Organization	Writing has been tossed off with no apparent logic in mind.	Writing is clearly structured.	Writing has been carefully thought through and develop a logical argument.
